Premier Decking FAQs
1.
What is Premier Decking made of?
Premier Composite Decking is made of wood flour and high density polyethylene
combined with pigment for color, an anti-fungal/anti mildew agent
and an anti-parasite agent. In addition, because it is manufactured
using Strandex technology, Premier decking has five important features.
First, it is one of the strongest deckboards on the market. The Strandex
technology results in “strands” of wood flour exiting from the extruder
like “strands” of spaghetti. Each individual “strand” of wood flour
is encased in high density polyethylene (HDPE). These “strands” are
then compressed and like “strands” of a rope make the rope stronger,
these “strands” of encased wood flour make Premier composite deck
stronger.
Second, Premier decking has increased protection against UV degradation.
As each “strand” of wood flour is encased in high density polyethylene,
it is protected from the harmful rays of the sun and will have significantly
less color fade than most other products on the market. While ALL
composite deck board will experience what is known as a “settling
in” stage whereby it “transitions” from the time it leaves the plant
until it has been “weathered” after installation, Premier decking
will experience less color fade and will “even out” to one consistent
level of color within 4-6 weeks of installation.
Third, Premier decking has increased protection against water absorption.
Again, as each “strand” of wood flour is protected by HDPE, the effects
of water are minimal.
Fourth, as Premier decking contains an anti-fungal agent, it will
not suffer from the effects of mold, mildew or fungus.
Finally, Premier decking contains an anti-parasite agent that has
been tested to repel even the most damaging of insects and parasites.
It all adds up to the highest quality composite decking available.
2.
What is the warranty?
Premier decking comes with a 20-year limited transferable warranty.
3.
Can Premier Decking be painted or stained?
Premier Composite Decking is made with a unique process that turns
wood and polymers into a strong, moisture-resistant material. The
result of this unique formulation is that you do not need to sand
or paint this product. You can paint or stain the product, however,
this will void the warranty.
4.
What colors are available?
Premier decking is available in three colors to provide you with a
selection of attractive, comfortable tones that will complement any
home exterior-wood, stucco, brick, stone or concrete. The three colors
are: Classic Gray, Redwood and Cedar.
5.
What tools are required to install Premier Decking?
Premier Composite decking cuts, drills and screws similar to wood,
using the same tools. Safety glasses and proper clothing are always
required.
6.
What lengths are Premier Decking sold in?
Standard lengths of 12 foot, 16 foot and 20 foot are available in
all colors.
7.
How should I care and clean for Premier Composite Decking?
Simply follow a few common sense rules and you will keep your Premier
Decking looking beautiful and clean.
- Deal
with stains quickly. Don’t allow them to penetrate the deck’s
surface or bake under direct sun.
- Grease
will stain any surface. Keep a splatter guard under your barbeque
grill.
- Make
sure your deckboards are sufficiently gapped or spaced. This will
help prevent water from pooling on the surface of your deck and
staining it. Using a flat tool, when necessary, you should clean
out the expansion gaps between the boards to ensure proper drainage.
- Wash
down your deck periodically with a hose, even it if appears to
be clean. This will prevent the buildup of pollen and other airborne
pollutants that can promote mold and mildew growth.
8.
Does Premier Decking meet National Building code standards?
Yes! All Premier composite products meet or exceed all National Evaluation
Service (NES) building code standards.
9.
Does Premier Composite Decking cost more than wood?
Premier Decking will not cost more to own. While the initial price
will be more the cost to own will be lower, due to the low maintenance
features of the product which means no annual staining to protect
the finish of the deck boards. Just install Premier decking, and follow
a few easy care and clean procedures and you will have years of enjoyment
from you Premier deck.

What is Strandex technology?
Like individual strands of a rope make a rope stronger, Strandex
technology makes composite extruded product stronger. As well,
the Strandex technology offers superior protection against UV
degradation and water absorption because every “strand” of wood
flour is encased in high density polyethylene. As such, when a
composite product uses Strandex inside, you can be assured that
you are getting the highest quality and strongest composite product
available in the market today. All Premier Composite deck boards
and railings are made with Strandex technology.
